Belaya Whippets was established in 1979.  Our story began in Samoyeds in the 1960's and we had a satisfying level of success with the breeding and training of fourteen bench show Champions among which were Specialty Winners, Working Group Placers, influential sires and dams, Obedience titlists, and competent sled dogs.

When we acquired our first Whippet, a breed we had always admired for its beauty and sweet demeanor, we were extremely fortunate to be offered the pick of the litter of one of the most influential sires of his day.  Those lines, though we were unaware at the time, directly influenced the future temperaments and conformation of our Whippets as well as their working ability.

Our goal is still, as it has always been in both breeds, to produce physically healthy dogs with mentally stable, livable, trainable temperaments.  They are equally suited to a happy home life as companions and their historic work of coursing game.  We hold to the belief that by keeping the original purpose of the Whippet uppermost in mind we can achieve the ideal of the old saying that “handsome is as handsome does.”

Now five generations removed from our foundations we are proud to present our “family”, past and present, and invite you to enjoy a moment with our representatives of this remarkably versatile breed.
